Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi Municipal, has offered an entertaining incentive to motivate AshantiGold players ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The MCE promised to prepare a special goat soup for the players if they manage to defeat the Porcupine Warriors, adding that she would also include money in an envelope as part of the reward.
“Beat Kotoko on Sunday, and I will prepare a special goat soup for you!” she declared, using humour and a personal promise to encourage the team ahead of the encounter.
Her additional promise of money in an envelope has added another interesting twist to the motivation, giving the players something extra to look forward to should they secure victory.
The gesture reflects a creative approach to motivating footballers, with the MCE combining a popular local delicacy with a financial reward to inspire the team to deliver a strong performance.
Matches involving Asante Kotoko often attract significant attention because of the club’s history and passionate following. Consequently, a victory over the Porcupine Warriors would provide AshantiGold with an opportunity to make a statement and give their supporters something to celebrate.
For the AshantiGold players, the message from Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin is straightforward: defeat Kotoko on Sunday, and the promised goat soup and money in an envelope will be waiting for them.
Beyond the humour surrounding the reward, her statement sends a message of encouragement to the players as they prepare for the challenge. Such gestures can help create excitement around a fixture and strengthen the connection between the team and local leadership.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will be determined to approach the match with the focus and discipline required to secure a positive result. The Porcupine Warriors will not want to be on the losing side, especially with their opponents’ unusual reward becoming a talking point ahead of the game.
Attention will now turn to Sunday’s encounter, where AshantiGold must do their talking on the pitch if they are to claim the victory that could earn them both the special goat soup and the envelope containing money.
Whether the players can fulfil the challenge remains to be seen, but the MCE has certainly added an entertaining incentive to the build-up to the match.
