Hon. Dr Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticker, has pledged to use his personal funds to help complete the ongoing astro turf project at Atasemaso in the Nhyeaso Constituency, expressing disappointment over delays in completing the facility.
Speaking to BornAgain Sports, the Member of Parliament for Nhyeaso explained that he had personally appealed to Ghana Gas, through the government, to support the construction of the astro turf. However, he expressed concern that the contractors had still not completed the project.
According to Hon. Amoah, he has already met with the subcontractor responsible for the project and intends to use his own money to ensure that the facility is ready by December 2026.
The MP assured his constituents that the astro turf itself would be ready for use by Christmas, although the floodlights would not be completed by then.
He further promised that a Christmas football gala competition would be organised at the facility in December, allowing residents and football enthusiasts in the constituency to enjoy competitive football on the new pitch, even without the floodlights being ready.
Hon. Amoah said his commitment to sports infrastructure was driven by his desire to create opportunities for young people and provide them with quality facilities to develop their football talents.
Reflecting on his earlier efforts to improve sporting infrastructure in the area, the MP revealed that when he first came to the Nhyeaso Constituency, it did not have even a single astro turf, while the neighbouring Bantama Constituency already had three or four such facilities.
He said the situation motivated him to take action, leading him to use a bank loan to support the construction of the astro turf at Kwadaso Estate.
Hon. Amoah disclosed that he spent more than GH¢300,000 to complete the Kwadaso Estate astro turf, highlighting the financial commitment he has made towards improving sporting facilities in the area.
He explained that the facility has helped promote competitive football, with teams using the venue for organised competitions, including Division One League matches.
The MP believes that providing quality sporting infrastructure is essential to developing football at the grassroots level and giving talented young players opportunities to progress to higher levels of the game.
He expressed hope that the Atasemaso project would soon provide similar opportunities for young footballers and residents in the constituency.
“My happiness is when my people are satisfied,” Hon. Dr Stephen Amoah told BornAgain Sports, emphasising that the satisfaction and welfare of his constituents remain central to his work.
