Hearts of Oak have suffered a major injury setback with exciting young attacker Alex Banso, popularly known as “Messi,” set to spend several weeks on the sidelines.
BornAgain Sports can confirm that Banso has been ruled out for six weeks after picking up an injury during the warm-up ahead of Hearts of Oak’s Ghana Premier League clash with Bibiani Gold Stars last Sunday at Dun’s Park.
The talented attacker was forced to leave the pitch limping after suffering the setback during the warm-up. His condition prevented him from featuring in the game, with Mohammed Hussein brought into the starting lineup as his replacement.
Banso subsequently visited a hospital for further medical examinations and underwent a scan to determine the extent of the injury. While there had been earlier speculation that the youngster could have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, BornAgain Sports understands that the latest information available to the platform is that Banso is expected to be out for approximately six weeks.
The development has generated concern among Hearts of Oak supporters, who have quickly expressed their desire to see the club take every possible step to ensure the youngster receives the best treatment and returns to action safely.
Some sections of the Hearts of Oak fan base are now demanding that the club management consider flying Alex Banso to South Africa for specialised treatment and rehabilitation in an effort to speed up his recovery and give him the best possible chance of returning to the team as soon as he is medically cleared.
Banso has become one of the most exciting young players at Hearts of Oak, with his pace, confidence, dribbling ability and creativity making him a popular figure among supporters.
He made his Ghana Premier League debut against Berekum Chelsea and quickly caught the attention of fans with his fearless approach, ability to take on defenders and willingness to create opportunities for his teammates.
His absence will be a significant setback for the Phobians, particularly as the club continues its league campaign and prepares for upcoming fixtures.
For now, Hearts of Oak supporters will be hoping the club provides the youngster with the necessary medical care and rehabilitation. The priority will be for Banso to recover fully before returning to competitive football.
