Asante Kotoko are set to introduce a seasonal ticket system for Ghana Premier League matches, a move that would represent a new chapter in the club’s matchday operations.
The proposal forms part of the club’s broader plans to modernise its operations and bring its matchday experience closer to practices used by some of Europe’s biggest football clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.
According to information available to BornAgain Sports, the idea has been discussed by the Asante Kotoko Board and management, with the club looking at how supporters can gain access to multiple home league matches through a single seasonal ticket.
Board members including Mr James Osei Brown, Mr Kwasi Osei Ofori and Mr Kofi Amaoh Arban, together with management figures such as Stanley Menzo and David Obeng Nyarko, are said to be involved in the discussions surrounding the proposed initiative.
If implemented, supporters would have the opportunity to purchase a ticket covering Asante Kotoko’s home Ghana Premier League matches for an entire season rather than buying individual tickets for every game.
The initiative would be a significant development for Asante Kotoko and, if introduced as planned, would be an unprecedented move in the history of the club. The proposal is also being viewed as a potential first for a Ghanaian football club to adopt a full-season ticket model on this scale.
However, the implementation of the seasonal ticket is linked to another major development involving the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Asante Kotoko Board has revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Sports Council over the possibility of the club taking charge of the Baba Yara Stadium. The club has reportedly indicated its willingness to make the necessary financial commitment, including potentially paying for the stadium for one year, should an agreement be reached.
The stadium negotiations are therefore considered important to the seasonal-ticket plan. The club wants clarity on the Baba Yara Stadium arrangement before officially launching the initiative.
If the takeover agreement is successfully completed and Asante Kotoko receive the green light to manage the stadium, the seasonal-ticket system is expected to begin from the 2027/28 season.
Despite the expected launch next season, Asante Kotoko are expected to officially announce the seasonal-ticket plan during the current 2026/27 campaign, giving supporters sufficient information ahead of its implementation.
The proposed move could also provide the club with a more predictable matchday revenue model while giving supporters a structured way to attend home league fixtures throughout the season.
