Asante Kotoko Brong Ahafo Regional Circles Chairman, Mr Vincent Fusieni, popularly known as Chairman Fuzy, has expressed his frustration following the Porcupine Warriors’ 2-0 defeat to Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
Speaking to BornAgain Sports after the match at the Baba Yara Stadium, Chairman Fuzy raised concerns about the team’s performance, refereeing and the relationship between the club’s leadership and supporters.
He was particularly critical of referee Maxwell Hanson, whom he accused of repeatedly making decisions that have frustrated Kotoko supporters.
In a strongly worded statement, Chairman Fuzy said: “All Ghana referee Maxwell Hanson is the only stupid referee; he doesn’t fear being beaten or dying. They chased him at Brong Ahafo during the Division One League. It’s time for us to react to the Ghana referee.”
Chairman Fuzy’s comments followed his concerns about refereeing standards and the treatment of Kotoko in matches. He also made controversial remarks about supporters confronting referees and their families if they believe they have been unfairly officiated.
Such threats or intimidation against referees and their families could have serious consequences. Any complaints about officiating should be addressed through the appropriate football authorities and established disciplinary channels.
Chairman Fuzy also revealed that he had contacted Ashanti Region Circles Chairman Alexander Manu and his deputy, Chairman Adusei, before Kotoko’s meeting with Aduana Stars.
According to him, he warned them that Aduana Stars would score an early goal, although he said his warning was not taken seriously.
“I called Ashanti Region Circles Chairman Alexander Manu and his deputy Chairman Adusei. I told them what I saw spiritually, that Aduana Stars would score us an early goal, but they didn’t mind me,” he told BornAgain Sports.
He further called on the Kotoko Board and management to engage more closely with the club’s various supporters’ leaders and regional circles chairmen.
Chairman Fuzy believes that strengthening the relationship between management and supporters is just as important as recruiting players.
“If the Kotoko Board and management don’t call the supporters’ chairmen and heads, this Kotoko will buy all the players in this world but the team will still struggle,” he said.
He also complained about his experience at the stadium, claiming that police officers and gate security personnel forced him to pay GH₵500 despite identifying himself as the Brong Ahafo Regional Circles Chairman.
“I told them that I am the Brong Ahafo Circles Chairman, but they said they don’t know me,” Chairman Fuzy claimed.
His comments come after Kotoko suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Aduana Stars, leaving supporters frustrated and demanding answers about the team’s performance and broader issues surrounding the club.
