Aduana Stars secured a memorable 2-0 victory over Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League Week 4 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, but the result was overshadowed by a serious injury suffered by Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
The Porcupine Warriors endured a difficult afternoon in Kumasi as Aduana Stars took advantage of crucial moments to claim all three points, despite playing with 10 men for more than half of the game.
According to information available to BornAgain Sports, Danlad Ibrahim suffered a serious injury during the encounter, with the goalkeeper now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
BornAgain Sports can report that Danlad Ibrahim is expected to be ruled out for the entire 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, in what would be a major setback for Asante Kotoko and the goalkeeper personally.
The full extent and specific nature of the injury are yet to be officially disclosed by Asante Kotoko or the club’s medical team. Therefore, further medical assessment will be required before the exact diagnosis and recovery timeline can be established.
Danlad’s injury came during a difficult sequence for Kotoko, with the goalkeeper left struggling after an incident in the game. The disruption added to the pressure on the home side as Aduana looked to exploit spaces and punish defensive mistakes.
The visitors had already taken the lead in the sixth minute through Stephen Amankona, who capitalised on an early Kotoko mistake to put Aduana Stars ahead.
Kotoko then attempted to fight their way back into the contest, but their task became more complicated when Aduana’s Raymond Agyemang was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 43rd minute.
Playing against 10 men, Kotoko dominated possession and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. However, Aduana remained compact defensively and relied heavily on quick counterattacks.
The Ogya Boys eventually delivered the decisive blow deep into stoppage time.
Seidu Saana produced a superb individual counterattack, racing forward before rounding Danlad Ibrahim and calmly finishing to make it 2-0. The goal came in the fifth minute of added time and effectively ended Kotoko’s hopes of rescuing a result.
The defeat represents Kotoko’s first loss of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign and leaves Eric Tinkler’s team with plenty to address ahead of their next fixture.
For Aduana Stars, the victory represents an important away triumph at Baba Yara Stadium. Despite being reduced to 10 men before half-time, they showed defensive discipline and punished Kotoko on the counterattack.
However, for Kotoko supporters, the biggest concern could now be the condition of Danlad Ibrahim.
If the season-ending assessment is officially confirmed, Kotoko will have to find a solution between the posts for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, making the goalkeeper’s injury one of the major talking points to emerge from the Week 4 encounter.
BornAgain Sports will continue to monitor Danlad Ibrahim’s condition and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
