BREAKING: Alex Banso Injury Scare After Scan

Hearts of Oak have been hit by an injury scare involving exciting young attacker Alex Banso, popularly known as “Messi,” after he picked up an injury during the warm-up ahead of their Ghana Premier League clash with Bibiani Gold Stars last Sunday at Dun’s Park.

Banso was forced to leave the pitch limping after suffering the injury during the warm-up. His condition meant he could not feature in the game, with Mohammed Hussein coming into the starting lineup as his replacement.

The Hearts of Oak talisman reportedly visited a hospital on Tuesday for further medical examinations and a scan to determine the extent of the injury. Information reaching BornAgain Sports indicates that the player could be sidelined for several weeks as he recovers.

There have also been reports suggesting that Banso may have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. However, BornAgain Sports understands that the ACL claim has not been confirmed by Hearts of Oak, and our source inside the club has only indicated that the player is expected to be out for some weeks.

Banso has quickly become a fan favourite at Hearts of Oak because of his entertaining style of play, pace, confidence and ability to take on defenders. His dribbling skills and creativity have made him one of the exciting players to watch since breaking into the first team.

He made his Ghana Premier League debut against Berekum Chelsea and immediately caught the attention of supporters with his impressive performance. His ability to provide assists, take on opponents and create attacking opportunities has increased expectations surrounding his development.

His absence will therefore come as a major blow to Hearts of Oak, particularly as they prepare for their next league fixture against Bechem United on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Meanwhile, some sections of the Hearts of Oak fan base have raised unverified claims that spiritual activities, popularly referred to as “juju,” may have contributed to Banso’s injury because of his exceptional performances. There is, however, no evidence supporting these claims.

The club and supporters will now hope that further medical assessments provide a positive update and that Banso can return to action as soon as possible.
